Adventures in Boston: Drinks & Lights

leave a comment »

Went up to my 2nd home for a couple days this weekend and played around with the new camera a little bit. The days consisted of walking outside, eating, drinking, and shopping, so yea it was a damn good weekend…

Spotted even more Shepard Fairy in Caimbridge. He really has taken over the city.

I just love everything about this picture.

My graduation gift to myself. Great now I’m broker than I already was.

Awesome sangria sampler and margaritas.

Then since it was getting dark we decided to have some with shutter speed and light (as always, no photoshopping here)…

Since I’m now addicted to taking pictures with this thing I decided to also start a personal Tumblr blog, The Dap. So hit me up with your own Tumblr sites or follow mine so that I can follow back.

Puma City – Boston

leave a comment »

Yesterday I was lucky enough to visit Puma City, in the Boston ports, for its final day of operations in the country. Puma City is a mobile shop/ bar/ lounge from Puma that was in Boston for almost a month to support the Puma Ocean Racing team.

Composed completely of shipping containers, Puma City has won a slew of awards for the functionality, mobility, and innovation of the structure.

The bottom two floors act as a retail space while there are bars, lounges, and decks on the upper two floors.

Great signage all over the place.

Volvo was another sponsor of the event and outside they had a full to scale model of a Volvo made completely of Legos.

Yesterday was the last chance to catch Puma City in Boston but the containers should be shipping out to other ports around the World now as this was the only stop in the US.

Some stats on the award winning piece of mobile architecture…
Number of Containers: 24
Height: 40 Feet, 3 stories
Weight: 3000,000 kgs (660,000 lbs)
Square Feet: 11,000 square feet
Number of Bolts: 3,700
Number of Usain Bolts: 1
Number of Screws: 15,000
Assembly: 2 weeks, 2 cranes, 1 forklift, 1 scissor lift, 20 workers, 6000 man hours

Store Profile: Re-Up – Boston

leave a comment »

Over the last few years Boston has really grown and proven it has some worth in the fashion game. While names like Bodega, Johnny Cupcakes, and Karmaloop are the staple stores in the city there are actually quite a few lesser known stores that are doing it big as well. One of those being Re-Up.

When you walk into the doors at Re-Up you actually just end up in a dark room. But follow the few stairs down until you come to this huge MJ quote across the wall, then you are in the right place.

The store is quiet big and they carry full lines of mens & womens clothes as well as a good selection fitteds. Some random Bearbricks, skate accessories, and DVDs can also be found by the counter.

Re-Up carries the likes of Staple, Futura Laboratories, MHI by Maharishi, Diamond Supply Co., 3sixteen, Fiberops, Penfield, Mighty Healthy, Kidrobot, and more. One of the very few places in Boston where u can actually find most of those NY and Cali based brands.
So if you are ever in Boston I highly suggest you check this shop out. There are a few other good stores in the area as well.

Re-Up
1 Brighton Ave. (entrance is actually on Malvern st. on the side of 88 Market)
Allston, MA 02134

Adventures in Boston: Valentine’s Day Weekend

with 3 comments

Back from a very nice Valentine’s Day weekend in Boston with a few random pics for you.

1st stop was out to Re-Up to talk some ish with my boy Ezra and pick up a new MHI jacket. Also a full Re-Up post coming in a day or so for the Boston heads.

Then all weekend I kept seeing some of the street art that got Obey’s Shepard Fairey arrested. I’m sure you saw it somewhere that he was taken in by the police after plastering his images all over Boston just last week. Well these are just 2 of the ones I saw. The one below was pretty cool to see driving as it’s in a huge intersection in Chinatown.

Then grabbed some amazing dim sum with the misses.

Every time I drive by this community rowing center I want to take a picture and I finally pulled over and did so. Not only is the design just beautiful, it’s in the open by itself so it looks even more epic. There is a full glass structure that holds the boats right next to it also.

Then, sadly, it was back on the road to Syracuse…..
Yea prolly not safe to take pictures while you’re driving, I know.

I’ll be back shortly with that Re-Up store profile, a Faces in the Crowd post and much more.

SwaggerDap.com baby, it’s a new beginning.

One of our favorite stores, Bodega in Boston, has finally launched their official site and ditched the looping Pacino splash page.

The site also features a store front which for now sells mostly Bodega branded items and recent collaborations.

Check it all out at www.bdgastore.com

Bodega x Saucony

leave a comment »

Boston’s beloved Bodega will soon be releasing a nice pack of running goods with athletic shoe company Saucony. Here’s a look at the collection, which was inspired by early 90’s cross country.

‘Revamping the classic Courageous runner model, we’ve created an updated classic crafted with materials including reflective 3M and ballistic nylon contrasted with premium leathers. Inspired by regional high school uniforms, the shoes combine modern technology with three colorways that transition from morning to night reflecting the never ending training regimen of long distance runners. Along with the sneakers retailing for $125 USD, Bodega offers a set of matching apparel (Jacket $85/Cap $35) scheduled to launch Saturday November 8th, 2008 11:00am at Bodega and will be offered as a package for $225 USD while supplies last.’

Unfortunately, don’t think we’ll be making it to Boston for this one though.
