Adventures in Boston: Drinks & Lights

leave a comment »

Went up to my 2nd home for a couple days this weekend and played around with the new camera a little bit. The days consisted of walking outside, eating, drinking, and shopping, so yea it was a damn good weekend…

Spotted even more Shepard Fairy in Caimbridge. He really has taken over the city.

I just love everything about this picture.

My graduation gift to myself. Great now I’m broker than I already was.

Awesome sangria sampler and margaritas.

Then since it was getting dark we decided to have some with shutter speed and light (as always, no photoshopping here)…

Since I’m now addicted to taking pictures with this thing I decided to also start a personal Tumblr blog, The Dap. So hit me up with your own Tumblr sites or follow mine so that I can follow back.

The Resurgence of L.A. Gear

with one comment

For years, yes literally years, I’ve been in search of a crispy pair of L.A. Lights from L.A. Gear (so I could be as cool as this guy). But since the model was discontinued in the early 90’s and L.A. Gear as a company has been seemingly nonexistent for years, it hasn’t been the easiest task. Well now with some shakeups in the company, L.A. Gears is finally making a comeback…

Star Shooter Hi

K.A.J. (Kareem Abdoul-Jabbar’s old signature model)

Fire Hi

Over the past year L.A. Gear has been teaming up with Sportie LA to slowly implement some retro releases from their Unstoppable line. The most anticipated models of LA Lights and LA Techs (featuring the light up heel) have not yet been released but it was just announced that there are plans to have them out by year’s end.

I’ll definitely keep you updated on the future releases of the LA Lights and LA Techs, as I’ve been watching this L.A. Gears comeback project for a while now.

DISCLAIMER:
For those of you who didn’t grow up with L.A. Gear, it wasn’t always some joke of a line. In fact some of the biggest athletes in the world used to endorse the brand, such as Kareem Abdoul-Jabbar, Wayne Gretzky, Joe Montana, Hakeem Olajuwon, Karl Malone, and non athletes like Michael Jackson and Paula Abdoul. Crazy right? It was basically Nike/ Reebok/ Adidas before they took over the endorsement game.

Buy L.A. Gears now, exclusively through Sportie LA.

Bape Octopus Card & Holder (HK Exclusive)

leave a comment »

If you’ve never been to Hong Kong then there is a good chance that you have never even heard of an Octopus Card. But if you live in Hong Kong, you know that an Octopus Card is the greatest thing ever and can be used for the MTR, 7-11, ice cream trucks, McDonalds, and more.
Well Bape is now releasing a special Octopus Card and holder exclusively for the Hong Kong store.

Coming in a white multi-camo, the Bape Octopus Card and holder will be released at the Bathing Ape store in Hong Kong on May 31st.

I’m thinking about picking one of these up just on the chance that I’ll be moving to or visiting HK very soon.

Louis Vuitton "A Passion for Creation" in Hong Kong

leave a comment »

Louis Vuitton has just opened a new art exhibit in Hong Kong to display some of the inspirational works (both direct and indirect) behind their line. The show is entitled “A Passion for Creation” and the Hypebeast team was on hand to get some exclusive pics…

Some oversized vintage movie posters with a light monogram print over them were plastered all over the Museum for the event.

Obviously there was plenty of Takashi Murakami, as he brings some of his print designs to life.

Stephen Sprouse works were also on display. I love that Sid Vicious piece.

Inspirational artists from all over the world were featured in the event, and many more pics of the show can be seen here.

Open until August 9th at the Hong Kong Museum of Art.

Y-3 Hayworth Mid II – a/w 2009

leave a comment »

For the Fall 2009, Y-3 is adding some color to the usual grayscale Hayworth Mid II by releasing a red and blue pair along with the staple black variation.

The Y-3 Hayworth is one of the most comfortable shoes I own, and I’m really liking these new solid colors. However I still think I like the all black best as it’s interesting to see it with the black midsole and no color touches at all.

These will be available in Y-3 stores and accounts next season.
